The Basic Course in Forging offers an in-depth introduction to traditional blacksmithing. Over five days, you will immerse yourself in the craft and gain a deeper understanding of how to work hot steel using classic tools and techniques, guided step by step by an experienced blacksmith.

What will you learn?

  • Fundamental blacksmithing techniques, such as Bending and tapering, Upsetting and splitting, Punching holes

  • How to work safely and efficiently at the forge

  • Controlling heat and understanding the smithy environment

  • Working hot steel with hammer and anvil

You will forge items such as:
  • Hooks and nails

  • A door handle

  • A candleholder

  • A simple knife

  • Your own project ideas, where time allows

Who is the course for?

The course is suitable for beginners and those with limited prior experience who want to build a solid foundation in traditional blacksmithing.

  • No previous experience is required

  • Ideal for those seeking a deeper understanding of the craft

  • Minimum age is 16.

  • Instruction is given in Swedish and English.

The course runs over five days and combines intensive hands-on forging sessions with regular breaks, shared meals and time for reflection.
