Splitting Axes

Gränsfors Splitting Axes are purpose-built for splitting wood along the grain. They feature a large, heavy axe head that is forged and ground into a concave shape with a relatively thin edge, allowing the axe to penetrate the wood quickly and split it efficiently as the wider section forces the fibres apart. This design also reduces the risk of the axe head sticking in the wood compared to slimmer axe heads.

Unlike Forest Axes, which are made for cutting across the grain, Splitting Axes are designed specifically for splitting, putting great strain on the handle near the axe head. For this reason, all Gränsfors Splitting Axes are fitted with a protective steel collar to protect the handle, which is also grooved at the end to provide an extra firm grip.

All Splitting Axes come with a sheath of vegetable-tanned leather and a copy of The Axe Book.
