The Gränsfors Small Splitting Axe is designed to split medium-sized firewood. Its head is forged and ground to a concave profile with a relatively thin bit. The axe cuts quickly and easily into the wood, allowing the wider section of the head to efficiently force it apart without getting stuck.
The axe is hand-forged in Sweden from high-quality recycled Swedish carbon steel. The axe comes with a sheath made from Swedish vegetable-tanned leather from Tärnsjö Garveri.

The Gränsfors Small Splitting Axe is designed for splitting medium-sized logs along the grain. This places considerable stress on the handle, which is why the axe is fitted with a protective steel collar below the head.
The durable 60 cm hickory handle provides excellent shock absorption and features circular grooves at the end for a secure, comfortable grip.
The Small Splitting Axe should not be used for striking splitting wedges or as a wedge itself. For these tasks, we recommend the Gränsfors Splitting Maul, which is specifically designed for that purpose.
