Forging course – Tools of the Blacksmith

This is a course for those interested in starting their journey into becoming a blacksmith or even building their own forge. In this course you will start learning the techniques to make some of the most important tools of the forge, since a blacksmith makes many of their own tools.
You will learn to forge such projects as a poker and shovel to take care of the fire, tongs, chisels, punches, and even your own handmade forging hammer.
Focus during the 5 days of the course is to make the tools that you will take home with you, along with the knowledge of how they are made – perhaps more important for those planning to continue forging on their own.
THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE COURSE
- 5 days of teaching by an experienced blacksmith at your own hearth in Gränsfors Bruk’s course forge.
- Meals at Restaurant Augustas in Gränsfors and lodging (single room/shared double room) in our houses in the village of Gränsfors.
- Free access to our wood-fired sauna and to the Axe Museum.
- All forging materials, the little Axe Book & the book Swedish Blacksmithing.
- A guided tour of the production and a 20% discount in Gränsfors Bruk’s factory store during the course.
- Insurance during the course and protective equipment to borrow.
- Issued course certificate.
- Your selfmade forging tools.
Instruction in Swedish and English. Maximum number of participants per course is 10. Minimum age is 16. This course is appropriate course both for beginners and those with some forging experience.
