Welcome to Axe Day with a sloyd theme! Join us for a day filled with crafts and inspiration in the spring idyll of Gränsfors. Meet experienced craftspeople, take part in activities for the whole family, try out axes, and see our production of handmade axes. A warm welcome to you!
Here’s what’s happening throughout the day:
Factory Tours
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Follow the entire process from steel to finished axe. Our staff will show you how it’s done.
Factory Store + Rehafting and Resharpening
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
The store is open with great deals. We rehaft and resharpen axes from Gränsfors Bruk and other brands (maximum 3 axes per person). Gränsfors Bruk axes can often be rehafted the same day, while other brands may take longer.
Craft Competition Led by Jögge Sundqvist
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Some of Sweden’s most experienced craftspeople compete for four hours using Gränsfors Bruk axes and a piece of wood. The competition is led by Jögge “s u r o l l e” Sundqvist. At 2:00 PM, visitors can vote for their favorite piece along with a jury, and the winner will be announced shortly afterward.
Try Blacksmithing

Try your hand at blacksmithing in our course forge! A family-friendly activity led by an experienced blacksmith. Note: Limited spots available. Sign-up on-site.
Meet Woxna
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Drop by and try out Woxna’s new saws — with a chance to win if you’ve got a good eye for measurements!
Craft Workshop with Per “Spångossen” Norén
11:00 AM – 3:30 PM
With a great sense of form and contagious enthusiasm, Per invites you to a creative session in woodcraft. The workshop is suitable for both beginners and those with some experience – the most important thing is the desire to try. The number of spots is limited, and registration should be sent to per.e.noren@gmail.com. Payment is made on-site directly to Per.
Location: Outside Gränsfors Axe Museum
Number of participants: Max 8. The workshop will be cancelled if fewer than 4 people register.
Price: 1200 SEK / person
Lunch: We will take a break for lunch during the workshop. Nearby dining is available at Augustas restaurant. You’re also welcome to bring your own lunch!
Exhibition with Per “Spångossen” Norén at the Axe Museum

Per Norén, living in an old schoolhouse in Raman, Hälsingland, has found his artistic expression through wood and traditional craft. Under the name Spångossen, he inspires thousands with his detailed chip carvings and strives to make craft accessible to all. His work has also gained recognition at the highest levels

Wrecking Bar Mini-Golf with Svedbro Smide
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Test your skills at mini-golf using Sweden’s only locally made crowbar from Svedbro Smide. Crowbar clubs are available for both children and adults!
