Forging course – Tools of the Blacksmith

This is a course for those interested in starting their journey into blacksmithing or even building their own forge. In this course you will start learning to make some of the important tools of the forge, since a blacksmith makes their own tools. You will learn such tools as a poker and shovel to take care of the fire, tongs, chisels, punches, and even your own handmade forging hammer.   Focus during the course is that you will take home the tools you have made, along with the knowledge of how they are made – perhaps more important for those planning to continue forging on their own. Tools of the Blacksmith is an appropriate course both for beginners and those with some experience as there is room for your own ideas.   All participants work at their own hearth in the Gränsfors Bruk course forge. The instructor is an experienced blacksmith who works at Gränsfors Bruk. Meals at Restaurant Augustas and lodging in Gränsfors, materials, course literature and a guided tour are included in the course.   Instruction in Swedish and English. Maximum number of participants per course is 10.
