Gränsfors Traditional Log Scribe

The Gränsfors Traditional Log Scribe is used to transfer the shape of one log to another. The user draws the Log Scribe along the lower log, following the contours and transferring the profile to the upper log. The surface of the one log is thus copied to the other by parallel transfer.

The Log Scribe is hand-forged in a coke fire using a hammer and anvil, and has been developed together with woodsmen who are used to building houses from log to finished cottage. The Log Scribe is therefore a much-appreciated tool that is often used on Gränsfors Bruk’s log-building courses.

The Gränsfors Traditional Log Scribe is forged by qualified blacksmiths from the NorrHälsinge Blacksmiths’ Guild.
Fredrik Thelin, founder of the guild and master blacksmith, has been working as a professional blacksmith for more than 25 years and served his apprenticeship at Gränsfors Bruk. Over the years, Fredrik has worked in close collaboration with Gränsfors Bruk, with a focus on axes, forging and as a course leader for the forging courses.
