Forging courses

In the well-equipped course forge, with direct connection to Gränsfors Bruk axe factory, many people have over the years gained their first insight into the fascinating world of blacksmithing.

Courses are available in different degrees of difficulty and vary in number of days. During 2024 we will offer 2-day courses in axe forging, basic and continuation courses in forging over 5 days and a new course called Tools of the Blacksmith.

All participants work at their own hearth in the Gränsfors Bruk course forge. The instructor is an experienced blacksmith who works at Gränsfors Bruk. All participants are insured during the course. We provide gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses and an apron.

Meals at Restaurant Augustas in Gränsfors and lodging (single room/shared double room) are included in all our courses. All materials, such as coke, steel, wood and leather are included as well as course literature and the book Swedish blacksmithing by KG Norén & Lars Enander.

The courses include a guided tour of Gränsfors Bruk’s forge and axe manufacturing. Course participants receive a 20% discount in Gränsfors Bruk’s factory store during the course on our standard products.

Instruction in Swedish and English. Maximum number of participants per course is 10. The minimum age is 16. No previous experience required.
