New for Gränsfors this year are two courses in timber framing, an alternative to the traditional log-building for constructing large or small houses. Courses are led by “the timber framing experts” Rupert Newman and Johannes Kästel in collaboration with experienced carpenter Andreas Hipf.
On a Timber framing course at Gränsfors Bruk, the course participants learn how Timber Framing goes from log to finished construction. You can come alone, but if you are a larger group, the maximum number of participants is 8 people.
Minimum age is 16 years. No previous experience required. Instruction is offered in Swedish and English.
Information on timber framing can be found on the Swedish website www.stolpverk.org or in Rupert Newman’s book Oak-Framed Buildings.
Feel free to watch a movie on youtube from a course in timber framing under the guidance of Johannes Kästel.
